A Sound Dissimilar AA5052/S45C Joint Formed by Uniform and Simultaneous Deformation of Both Materials Using Pressure-controlled Joule Heat Forge Welding

The effect of weld parameters on the microstructure and mechanical properties AA5052/S45C dissimilar joints fabricated by a novel pressure-controlled joule heat forge welding (PJFW) was systematically investigated. deformation behaviors materials during process were able to be controlled regulating electrical resistance which affects heating rate. Since temperature decreased with increasing applied pressure, formation intermetallic compounds layer at interface suppressed. Thus, peak joint efficiency 85% reached applying high pressure 180 MPa.
